Academic Record:
Applicants who have secured at least 55% of marks in Master’s Degree or
equivalent examination from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC New
Delhi, in subjects like Sciences, Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences,
Computer Science & 5 Applications, Electronic Sciences, Library &
Information Science, are eligible to appear for Tamil Nadu SET / TNSET.
Applicants who have appeared or will be appearing at the Master Degree (final
year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose
qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for Tamil Nadu State
Eligibility Test.

Age Criteria: There
is no upper age limit for applying for TNSET Examination.
Application Fee:
Contenders are required to pay the examination fee through online mode using
Credit/ Debit Card or Net-Banking. In case the examination fee is paid through
Credit/Debit Card or Net banking, the applicable taxes and convenience fee,
etc. will be additionally charged. See this list-
- For General/ OBC Creamy Layer: Rs. 1500/-
- For OBC (Non Creamy Layer): Rs. 1250/-
- For SC/ST/PwD/ VI/ HI/ PH: Rs. 500/-
Selection
Procedure: Selection will be done on the basis of performance in the
Tamil Nadu SET. There will be 2 rounds: 1st written examination and 2nd
personal interview. Candidates will first go the written examination and score
more than the cutoff marks then only the shortlisted candidates will be called
for the final personal interview.
Exam Pattern:
- Paper-I will be of General Nature, intended to check the teaching/research aptitude of the Candidate
- Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the Candidate
- Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the Candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks
