Educational QualificationCandidates must have-
  • Bachelor’s degree. Applicants who belongs to General/ OBC (NCL) Category should have possessed at least 55% aggregate marks without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined).
  • Foreign Nationals may have minimum 50% aggregate marks without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined)
  • Aspirants of SC/ ST and PwD Category must have possessed at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
  • Contenders who have either appeared or are due to appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree are also eligible to appear in the test.

Application Fee: Aspirants are required to pay application fee. Fee for admission test will be paid according to the category. The application fee is to be paid through online mode using net banking account, debit or credit cards etc.

Exam Pattern: M.Sc Joint Admission Test for each examination will be of three hours duration. All the examination will be conducted in ONLINE mode only. Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. examination will have seven test papers namely as:
Biological Sciences (BL)
Mathematics (MA)
Biotechnology (BT)
Mathematical Statistics (MS)

Section–A: It contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two mark each.

Section–B: It contains a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) carrying two marks each.

Section–C: It contains a total of 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two mark each.
A candidate can appear in either one or two test papers subject to the restrictions of test schedule.

IIT JAM Syllabus:
  • IIT JAM Exam Syllabus is divided into three sections, i.e. Section A, B & C.
  • IIT JAM comprise of various topics such as BL (Biological Sciences), BT (Biotechnology), GC (Geology), MS (Mathematical Statistics), CY (Chemistry), PH (Physics) and MA (Mathematics).
Multiple Choice Questions: Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is correct answer.

Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): Each MSQ type question is as same as Multiple Choice Questions but the difference that there may be one or more than one choice that are correct out of four given choices.

Numerical Answer Type Questions: Each NAT type question, answer is a signed real number which needs to be entered using virtual keypad on monitor. There will be No choices for these types of questions.
