GMAT Syllabus: GMAT Syllabus is divided into four sections which are as follows:
  • AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment)
  • IR (Integrated Reasoning)
  • Quant
  • Verbal


Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA):
  • Examine and analyze the given argument
  • Figure out the reasoning behind an argument and write a critique of the same
  • Work out a methodical approach to present your answer
  • Consider various viewpoints
  • Support your answer with appropriate examples and explanation
  • Be sure that you have used the of the right grammar while presenting your answer


Integrated Reasoning (IR): To complete this section, candidates will be provided 30 minutes. This requires combination of both Verbal and Quant skills and is similar to the Data Interpretation (DI) section in the CAT.

The IR section consists of 12 questions of four types which are as follows:

  • Graphics interpretation
  • Table analysis
  • Two-part analysis

Verbal: Questions in this section will be based on the following:
  • Reading Comprehension (RC):  A passage will be given to you and you need to answer the questions according to it.
  • Critical Reasoning (CR):  A small passage will be give to you and you need to find the premise, conclusion, assumption, etc.
  • Sentence Correction (SC):  Part of the sentence will be underlined, and five options will be provided after that and you have to mark the error, and select the correct option.


GMAT Test Pattern: The pattern for GMAT test is given as follows:     
  • The sections in the exam are namely Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal.
  • Analytical Writing Assessment will have 1 topic and 30 minutes will be provided to complete this section.
  • Integrated Reasoning consists of 12 questions and the candidates have to complete this section within 30 minutes.
  • Quantitative part will have 37 and Verbal part will have 41 questions respectively.
  • Exam duration is 3 hours, 30 minutes.
