NIOS Admission

Academic Qualification:

Secondary Course: Those, who are having class 8th certificate, are eligible to apply for NIOS secondary course.

Senior Secondary Course: Those, who have passed at least class 10th or its equivalent exam from a recognized board or institution, are eligible to apply for NIOS 2018 Senior Secondary Course.

Age Criteria: To apply for secondary course minimum age limit is 14 years on the other hand for senior secondary course minimum age is 15 years.

NIOS Admission Stream: Check this out-

Stream 1: As per NIOS stream 1, new appliers may fill NIOS online Admission for Apr 2018 Examination according to the eligibility criteria.

Stream 2: As per stream 2, who want to fill e On-line admission form but could not clear or not declared qualified in the Public Examination of Secondary / Senior Secondary Levels, they can fill NIOS stream 2 applications Form.

Stream 3:  NIOS online form is available throughout the year. The admission under this stream is limited to the availability of seats in ODES at Secondary with an option of Examination Centre at NIOS Headquarter or at the Regional Centre.

Stream 4: The admission under stream 4 is limited to the availability of seats in ODES at Sr. Secondary with an option of Examination Centre at NIOS Headquarter or at the Regional Centre


NIOS Online Admission Fees: Contenders willing to get online admission in NIOS are required to pay admission fee. Fee will be paid via using credit card, master, visa, debit card. Fee can also be paid through offline mode via Bank Draft of any Nationalized Bank of India only in favor of Secretary, NIOS payable at respective Regional Centre.

How to Fill NIOS Online Admission Form: Follow these steps-
  • Students should visit official site of National Institute of Open Schooling that is www.nios.ac.in.
  • On home page go to “Admissions” tab that is available at the left side under “Information About”
  • Select “Academic Course Prospectus” link.
  • Read the instructions carefully and ensure your eligibility.
  • Now if you are new user then press “Register now” option.
  • Fill online application form and note down email and password.
  • Then, login again and fill NIOS application form with all relevant information.
  • Upload scanned passport size photograph and signature (if required).
  • Also, make the payment of fee through proper mode.
  • Then, recheck the details once and hit on “Submit” tab.
  • Take printout of filled in application form for future reference.

Documents Required to be Upload:
  • Attested copy of Birth Certificate
  • Transfer Certificate / School Leaving Certificates
  • Schools the transfer certificate/school leaving certificate
  • Certificate for SC/ST (in case of SC/ST),
  • Photocopy of Mark sheet of Class X Board Examination (in case of Sr. Sec.),
  • Certificate from the Employer for Ex-Servicemen,
  • Certificate from a Government Hospital for a handicapped person
  • Original failure/compartment Mark sheet of
  • Class X or XII for TOC
  • Transfer Certificate from the last school attended or Self Certificate regarding educational qualifications (in case of Secondary)
