Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY)
Recently a new scheme is launched by Ministry of Rural
Development known as Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY). As per
the latest
news this yojana will be implemented under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana –
National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) for all required and finalcial
poor citizens. Ministry of Rural Development is ready to implement DAY-NRLM in
all States and Union Territories (except Delhi and Chandigarh) as they are
highly education ratio and jobs prospect. Such selected states which have been
well-versed about the number of blocks allotted to them to implement comes in this
AGEY on the pilot basis. Participants

educated aspirants but this scheme Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana has given a

belonging to women self help groups to create an alternate livelihood. It is

watching this government has activated a scheme in which Interest Free Vehicle will
be provided to applicants. The Ministry has depicted that AGEY will soon be
implemented in 250 blocks across the country for a fixed time period of 3 years

Objectives of Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana
The central goal of Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana is to
provide an alternative source of livelihoods to members of Self Help Groups
(SHGs) under DAY-NRLM especially to women as they are the pillars of any family
to feed all the members with the available recourses.
As far as we concern till now approx 34.4 lakh women from SHGs
have been supported under the programme successfully. Aajeevika Grameen Express
Yojana will ensure providing all basic facilities them to handle public
transport services in backward rural areas to earn healthy money which is
really very good move of government towards women empowerment.
Aajeevika Grameen
Express Yojana: As per the motive of AGEY it would ensure to provide
safe, reasonably priced and community monitored rural transport vehicles to
connect each remote villages with main services for their growth. The vehicles
which will be used under the scheme are
- E-rickshaws
- 3 and 4 wheeler motorized transport vehicles
- Also, AGEY would enable easy connectivity of rural remote areas with all facilities including access to markets, education and health for the overall economic development of the area.
Financially
Support Under Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana
- Government has announced to provide financial support under the AGEY in the form of Revolving Fund and Community Investment Funds.
- Such fund would be given as grants to the Self Help Groups (SHGs) and their members/partnership as per performance. So far, Central govt. has released a total amount of Rs. 1815 crore to about 3.96 lakh SHGs.
- Under Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY), one main provision has proposed that the Community Based Organisations (CBO) are allowed to provide interest free loan from its own funds to Self Help Group member for purchase of the transport vehicle.
- This AGEY system will have a focus on women empowerment and it has been keen to promoting farm and non-farm based livelihoods for women farmers in rural areas.
